Maharaj Daksh Prajapati Maharaj Daksh Prajapati is regarded as one of the prominent mythological figures in Hinduism. He is considered one of the Prajapatis and is traditionally described as a mind-born son (Manas Putra) of Lord Brahma, the creator. The term "Prajapati" means the lord and protector of all living beings, responsible for creation and nurturing life. Key Facts Maharaj Daksh Prajapati was the father of Goddess Sati. Goddess Sati was married to Lord Shiva. Daksh Prajapati organized a grand Yajna (sacrificial ritual) but deliberately did not invite Lord Shiva. Deeply hurt by the insult to her husband, Goddess Sati immolated herself in the sacrificial fire. Enraged by this event, Lord Shiva sent his fierce warrior Veerabhadra, who destroyed the Yajna and beheaded Daksh Prajapati. Later, out of compassion, Lord Shiva restored Daksh Prajapati to life by replacing his head with that of a goat (ram). This episode is widely known as the Daksha Yajna.
